Access 2000 to 2002

I had a PC with Office 2000 Premium, but got a new one
that came with Office XP Standard. All I need from my old
copy of Office Premium is Access, but I cannot add the
Access software because the computer sees the newer
version of Office. I bought an upgrade version of Access,
but it will not install because now MS requires that the
computer have an copy of Office 2000 or 98 Premium or a
stand alone version of Access. Have I wasted my money on
the upgrade version of Access which cannot be returned or
is there a way to get around this?

Have you tried using your Office 2000 Premium cd's during your install of
the upgrade version of Access (2002?)? When the installer for Access asks
you to locate the qualifying product, insert the Office 2000 Cd into the
cd-rom drive and point the installer to that drive. That should verify that
your qualifying product exists and you can re-insert the original cd and
proceed with your installation.
