Can I resize w2K3 boot partition?

M

mspeed

I did an install on a box that would boot off the CD so I had to go
with the original partition size which is only about half the physical
drive space.

I know Partition Manager will not work on 2K3 Server. Does anyone
know of an app that will let me expand the boot partition into the
remaining free drive space?

TIA

This doesn't make any sense.

My version of PQMagic lets me make a rescue boot disk
which I can use on any OS. Some versions of the Acronis
partition manager do the same. You could also do this:

- Install the disk as a slave disk in some other Win2000/XP PC.
- Use xcopy with the appropriate switches to copy the
partition to some folder on a disk with sufficient free space.
- Repartition the disk.
- Use xcopy to restore the original folders.
- Restore the boot environment.

Sorry. That was supposed to be "wouldn't." The existing box was an
NT 4.0 Server so I had to start the install from within NT so it
copied the startup files to the HDD, explaining my being forced to use
the original partition size.

One method would be to use your existing install to copy the CD-Rom to a
small newly created partition, then start setup.exe from your existing
install then during text mode portion of setup delete the NT created
partition (2003) and create a new partition of appropriate size and continue
the install.
