Help -novice user and new to XP - need to open a
WordPerfect sent in email attachment to my Ourlook 2000 -
can it be done? I don't have WordPerfect software. A
message says file does not have an association and to
double click My Computer - then options- then file type -
but I can't even find the word "Options" when I click My
Computer! PLease help - Trying to get the document, then
print labels. List was also sent in Word, after the sender
had converted it from WordPerfect, which I can open, but
can't seem to print in labels. Appreciate any suggestions
Thank you.

You need some program that reads Word Perfect files. Nothing, to my
knowledge, is delivered as part of basic Windows XP to enable this. You
need to:

Before getting into technical solutions or buy new software, first step
should be to negotiate with the person that sent you the file to send it
in a format your computer can read and that he/she can create.

I'm amazed that those who have answered your question
haven't told you that you just need to insert your XP
Office Standard disk and it will automatically install
the conversion file you need. When you try to open the
*.wps doc, it should tell you that. Give it a try.

I did post a website that tells here how to open the word perfect file in
word and install the conversion filters as well.

She didn't say anything about owning Office, which is as you know, a
separate product from XP. I thought of mentioning it, but thought best
she just talk with the person who sent the file.

Um... that would work if she had Office XP. She didn't say she did.

Office XP is NOT Windows XP.

If you can't get in opened, email your friend and ask him to open their
document in WordPerfect and then click on File... Save As...
and save it as a basic text document. When he sends that to you as a .txt
file you should have no problem opening it.
