can i move data from Microsoft Outlook XP to MO 97?

I saved my old inbox on my work pc, on cd, from Outlook XP, now at home I
only have M. Outlook 97, and the pst files won't open? Why?
 
You have to copy from cd to hd, ensure read only is off. Then open the pst
in OL
Do NOT overwrite any pst and do NOT import
