Can I just reinstall SP2

Assuming that I have some sort of driver problem from SP2, can I simply
download and reinstall SP2 or will this cause all kinds of problems with
later modifications?

If download/reinstall is not on option, can I remove SP 2 and start again
from that level?

Thank you.

assuming :>

in add/remove there is a check box to "show updates" you can remove SP2 and
reapply it ...

I would have SP2 handy on disk/drive and not be connected to the internet
when doing this...

when done you will most likely have to updates from MS that came out since
SP2

He's right.

For a while MS was giving away CD's of SP2 free of charge. You might check
that out.

Hi,

Reinstalling or uninstalling/reinstalling SP2 will not correct a driver
issue. A correct driver file will correct a driver issue. Why do you assume
you have a driver problem?

This has to do with a continuing issue of some USB 2.0 devices being
recognized as USB 2 devices and others being recognized as USB 1 devices.
All the devices work on a similar computer. Microsoft paid service, has
talked about a shotgun approach of running a full repair. Since I have a
downloaded SP2 and have an OEM system disk, this turns out to be a major
endeavor and I would do it only if someone actually thought it would work.
But since USB 2 has been enabled by the service packs, my assumption was
that perhaps the problem is with SP 2.

Your thoughts on why USB 2 works only sometimes by recognizing some devices
all the time and others only occasionally would be much appreciated.

(I have rerun the chip set; uninstalled all the drivers and hubs and allowed
the computer to reinstall them;; checked the bios to make sure they enable
usb properly; and done all of the other "fixes" suggested).

Thank you.
