Sure, they are two different programs. One is an operating system, XP
Home, and the other is an application, Office XP SBE. Neither XP Home
or any of the windows OS's contain the office suite. The have to be
installed.

You'll need the product key for the Office XP SBE. It's asked for
during installation.

Thanks. I thought so, but then wondered if it was just the app's. I
appreciate your quick response.

But IIRC most, if not all, SBE versions are OEM versions of the production
software and are forever tied to the original PC it was installed on. Look
at the installation CD and if it says for use, sale, etc. with a new PC, it
is OEM and you would be in violation of the EULA if you installed it on the
second system.

I'm not the one asking the question.

You're mixing up apples and oranges here.Despite the same word "XP" in both
names, these are two completely different things. Office XP is a suite of
application programs, and Windows XP Home is an operating system.

You can't install application programs "over the top" of any operating
system, but you can install Office XP to run *under* Windows XP Home.
