Can I import an Access file into Outlook contacts?

I need to input several hundred contacts and unfortunately, I do not have
access to Outlook yet. I though I might try a database in Access. Is it
possible to easily import that database into Contacts in Outlook? Or is the
import easier using Excel and saving it as a .csv file? I am using the 2002
version of all products. Thank you in advance!

i had no problems in importing an Access table of 1200 records (contacts)
into Outlook 2003 - the import routine also lets you map fields from one to
the other

Why not start with the basics - what format do you have your data in to
start with?

We have a very simple rule in what we do and specialize in (which among
other things is data management) - if it's not broken don't fix it.

If your raw data is in a file format that Outlook recognizes - use it. Only
if that doesn't work (there can be a multitude of reasons why it can't/won't
but for the most part, it works just fine for most people with generic
imports) - specifically state the problem you're encountering. At that point
a suggestion can be made as to what the best format would be based on what
capabilities you have to create an "import file" (or if you need a 3rd party
solution). Without more details - any other suggestions are pointless.

However, a statement in advance, Outlook does not allow you to import to any
custom fields (user-defined fields). You will need a 3rd party solution
(ours is one of them) but make sure you really need one first.
