Can I edit email after running spellcheck (before sending it)?

Does Outlook have the option to return to writing or editing an email after
running spellcheck and before sending the email? It seems to send the email
automatically after running spellcheck. Is there an option or override to
prevent this?
 
How are you invoking spell-check? Neither the spell-check button (abc), nor
F7 sends the message after spell-checking it. Pressing "send" of course,
will, as will alt+s.
