I need to apply windows updates to multiple machines. Some of these
are on dialup and would take forever to apply the patches.

Can I download the latest windows updates in a file or group of files
and put them on CD to update these machines?

Thanks for any info

You can buy a CD of SP1 to get you started, at
http://www.microsoft.com/WindowsXP/pro/downloads/servicepacks/sp1/default..asp
and down at the bottom is the link to order it. $10 plus S&H

You can go to Windows Update, take Windows Update Catalog on the left
(you may need to enable the entry from 'Personalise'), and take Updates
for Systems - Win XP SP1 and be shown all the later *Critical* updates,
to select and add to a Download basket, so as to save and burn to a CD.

For non-critical ones, the best bet seems to be to empty Temp Internet
Files (for convenience), then when you get an update, the initial
download goes there, When it starts installing, at the agreement
dialog, copy the downloaded .exe file out to safety
