Can I do a repair install from a full version CD?

Hi

Can anyone tell me if its possible to do a repair installation with a full
version CD (rather than a Win2k Upgrade version)?

My friend has a laptop with a corrupted win2k. It was supplied with
recovery disks but these give no options - all they can do is reformat the
drive and do a full clean install! I dont want to kill my friends data so I
was thinking of buying a new Win 2k CD.

I just want to double check if I can do a repair install from a full version
CD or if I need to buy the upgrade version.

Thanks for any info.

For repair purposes either one would work assuming a repair is possible.
