Can I create a watermark on Powerpoint slides?

I want to put a logo as the background to my presentation very faintly - like
a watermark. I am sure I have seen this done elsewhere. Can anyone advise me
how to do it?

What version of PowerPoint are you using? This matters because in versions
2000 and prior, you will need to add the watermark to the image prior to
inserting it onto the master. In versions 2002 and up you can make the
watermark image various degrees of transparent and superimpose this
partially transparent image over your background image.
