Hi

I want to change one of my Hard disk-drive's letter
from G: to R:. While doing so, I am seeing a warning that
programs may stop to function. In my case, All critical
applications have been installed in this G: drive.
Please advice can i go ahead with the rename ? OR Will
this rename cause any problems ?

Thanks
Anand

Any applications installed to G:\ will most likely stop functioning.

Open regedit and do a search (F3) for "G:". You'll get the picture.

Hi Anand,

I have a few old hard drives I fool around with at times. On one of them
I used Partition Magic to merge two partitions into one just to see what
would happen. It told me there may be some problems in doing so, but
then after giving it the go ahead anyway, it began searching the
registry for keys pointing to the old partition and changing them to
where the info would going to be after the merge.

I wouldn't try this on anything you weren't willing to lose though. You
could always make a fake partition or two to play with, install a
program or two on one of them, then merge or whatever with Partition
Magic and see what happens.
