Can I access a scanner through a home network?

I have a couple computers running winxp pro and connected via a wireless
hub. Attached to one is an Epson 2580 scanner. Is it possible to access it
from the other computer? Can it be shared like a printer? Where would I set
it up for sharing?

Any suggestions appreciated!

Sharing a scanner is only possible if the scanner manufacturer or a
third party supplies software to do it. Windows doesn't have that
capability built in. Here's one possible source:

Scanner sharing isn't as convenient as printer sharing. Unlike a
printer, you have to be physically present at a scanner to operate it.

Here are some possible solutions:

1. Scan images into a shared folder on the computer that connects to
the scanner, then access the images from the other computer.

2.Use Remote Desktop to remotely control the XP Pro computer that
connects to the scanner from the other computer.

Bob,

If the scanner says that it's shareable thru the network, then it can be shared.
Most scanners for home use aren't. A 5 minute scan of the Epson website doesn't
make me suspect that it is network shareable.
