Can footer/slide #/date be "locked" so cannot be accidentally dele

In PPT 2003, footers could only be accessed via the slide master. Now in PPT
2007, they can be accessed on every page. While some may consider this a
benefit, those three text boxes (footer, date, and number) can now easily be
accidentally moved, deleted, and/or changed when working with the other
content on the slide.

Is there any way to "lock" those text boxes (and have that be the default)
so that they are not inadvertently changed?

Thanks for any help!

Dear Hossdaddy,

As a work around, you could cover the footers with one long horizontal
tranparent rectangle. It's not foolproof, but may deter some regegade changes.
