Can express work with exchange 5.5 NT4

Hi

Is it possible to use outlook express with a NT4 exchange 5.5 server . , and
how ?
We have acounting software and every day all branches send the days takings
via express , the software only works with express . So I have to use a
dialup to retreive the days info. from an alternate isp
I would be much easier and quicker to have it sent to express via our
exchange server with a dedicated line .
Or is there a way to send mail from oultook to express on the same PC .

Thanks

Exchange 5.5 can support POP3/IMAP/SMTP clients. Just remember that a POP3
mail client can remove all the items from Inbox on Exchange. Assuming that
one of your Exchange servers has the Internet Mail Connector installed, the
account properties would be something like...

1) POP3/IMAP server name = name of the exchange server the mailbox is on
2) SMTP = name of server that has the internet mail connector installed
3) Logon ID = domain\userid
4) password = name of password
5) mailbox name = exchange alias name (i'm assuming that no two users have
the same exchange alias)

I tried using imap but it asks for a password when trying to connect but the
user does not have an exchange password.

is the environment expecting the user to change the password at first logon?
(this can't be done via IMAP or POP) If not and you really mean that you
setup a user account with a blank password, I would say, give them a
password. Make it a little difficult so password dictionary attacks have to
work a bit to get it. Don't want your server used as a relay. ;)
