Can DVD-R be used for Multi-Session of writing?

Can the DVD_R be used for Multi-Session of incremental writing? What about
DVD+R? Which one is better?
 
Optical drives have been capable of multi-session recording for years.
What is "incremental writing"? Could you be referring to packet writing?
If so, you need packet writing software, which most burning
software has.

There is no 'better' between DVD+R and DVD-R. They are two different
ways of arriving at an identical result.
 
Can I burn 1.2G of data onto the DVD-R first, and 0.3G and 1.3G afterwards?
(The capacity of DVD_R is 4.7G)

Like "multi-session"? As in Nero?
