can business contact manager be synchronised to a laptop?

I am trying to set up Business Contact Manager in a small company, with six
salesmen. It works fine, with everyone accessing the same database while
they are in the office, but I cannot manage to replicate the database to
either their laptops or their palm pilots. I cannot even get a successful
connection to the database when they are logged into the server via VPNs from
their homes.

Yes you can take BCM onto a laptop in offline mode with BCM 2007. This is
new for BCM 2007. This was not easily possible in 2003.

VPN inssues could be due to default SQL instance configuration for
networking. There are tweaks, but I'd stay clear of it because of latency
concerns. PalmOS is not supported unless you use a 3rd-party product.
Windows Mobile devices are supported including Windows Mobile 5.0 as a beta
and Windows Mobile 2002, 2003 as a release.

Please note that BCM for Office 2003 is now up to Update 2, Service Pack 3.
BCM for Office 2007 is up to Beta 2 Technical Refresh.

Thanks for that Leonid

I've been trying to download BCM2007, but am getting a message saying that
the beta version of Outlook needs to be downloaded first. Can't find the
beta version of Outlook. Any suggestions?

Thanks again.

You will want to download Office 2007 Professional Plus, which includes
Outlook 2007 from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview

You will be charged $1.50 per download. I do not believe you need to bother
downloading BCM-EN.exe, so save the $1.50 *smile* since it won't install on
B2TR anyway.
That would be from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...36-4128-4c2f-bc02-c9564c0b2d6c&displaylang=en -
BCM 2007 B2TR
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7BC78C14-7143-41D9-84A9-BD628DB7B6A0 -
beta of BCM Mobile for WM 5.0 if you want it
Don't forget to also get Office 2007 B2TR from here and install it first
before you do anything with BCM from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=B07A3387-01CF-4BC3-821A-0BB10E7A59FA -
Office 2007 B2TR

Note that Office B2TR will not install unless you first install the original
Office 2007 Beta 2 release that you were charged for. Once you install the
original office 2007 beta, I recommend that you also open each of its
aplpications at least once to complete the initialization process.

What is B2TR? Beta 2, Technical Refresh. Why do you want it? The performance
increase is very noticeable and lots of bugs were addressed.

Also, SBA 2007 had a technical refresh as well. Beta program members for SBA
2007 have information available on that site.

I am adding this post to my website. :)
