Of course you can uninstall it, but why ? Control panel>Add/remove
programs

Your XP Pro was probaly screwed up with junk and therefore
you have problem.

Try this:

Download Lavasofts Adaware
http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10399602.html?tag=pop

Download CCleaner, www.ccleaner.com for temporarily junk removal.

Run above and see if this resolve your problem.
