Huh? In Schenectady, NY we used the "went missing" phrase ever since
I can remember which would be from the late '50's on.
There are differences and those differences should be celebrated and enjoyed, not
ignored, and not eliminated. They should also be differentiated in the
localization of Windows.

I have to agree there.
