calc program in internet explorer folder

Just wondered if a program called calc.exe should be in internet explorer
folder.

It is not the same as the calculator accessory.

I only noticed this program when it showed an error. When it shows an error
it shows a cmd window, but not much appears to be happening.

I have copied it to another location and tried to delete it, however system
will not let me.

Virus scan shows nothing on system.

Should I be concerned about this?

Hi,
Calc.exe is modified by several virus's/worms. Here are a few hits from
google:
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.hllw.astef.html
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.hllc.happylow.html

http://vil.mcafeesecurity.com/vil/content/v_100672.htm

Has your antivirus program been recently updated? You might try another AV
program. Several free programs are listed at
http://www.aumha.org/freeware/mfav.htm

Some online scanners http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Scanners.htm

The online scan from RAV has an excellent reputation
http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/

Hope this helps,

Don,

Many thanks for your advice.

After posting, I managed to get rid of the unwanted calc.exe file. Further
investigation found the ixplore.exe, so have removed that too.

My McAffee virus software is up to date and detects no problems. Thanks for
Mcaffee link, it seems that the UK site is more difficult to navigate and
find things.

I will run the ravantivirus scan and post results.

Regards

Phil
