Cached Mode Changes to Online, Outlook Address Book Service Disapp

Hello all,

My organization is running Outlook 2003 with an Exchange 2003 server. I
have manually configured the client PCs to use Outlook in Cached Mode, and to
have the Outlook Address Book Service, so that users can use Contacts and
public folders as address books.

Something seems to sporadically be resetting these values, however. Users
can get into Outlook successfully, but complain that their address lists are
gone. Upon examing the user's system, I find that Outlook is running in
Online mode, not Cached mode, and that the Outlook Address Book service has
disappeared.

I manually change the user back to using Cached Mode and re-add the OAB
service, all is well for a few days, and then *zap!*, the settings change
again.

When I originally created the e-mail profile on each system, I named it
"PCBG Exchange", after our organization's name. It was the only profile
configured on each system. Looking at the Mail control panel now, though, I
see that there are multiple profiles, named "BACKUPx of PCBG Exchange"
appearing.

Any idea as to what might be causing this behavior, and how I can stop it?

Thanks,

Craig

It sounds like the registry values (e.g. ImportPRF) are present to tell Outlook to create a new mail profile each time the user logs in.
