cable modem

hi i have a webstar cable modem which i was using on my old pc but i now have
a new pc so i am now using it on that but my old pc was running on windows me
and now i am running windows xp the problem i am having is when i connect to
the internet it varies how long i can stay connected before my pc shuts down
and restarts. everytime it does this i get an error report which directs me
to upgrade my modem driver which i did but the problem is still there and the
same error message to upgrade my driver any help with this would be grateful
and probably stop me going insane.

Try control panel,internet connections,L.click on the hardware icon,then in
the
new sub menu,select,repair this connection.Also,if you
R.click,properties,uncheck
or delete packet schedule,or anything related to it.Also,download the
software/
drivers for you ethernet hardware,the drivers for it are more important than
the modem..

i have looked in the control panel but i cant see internet connections ?

He could have meant ' Network Connections'
That's what is in my Control Panel
