dc

I am running this for the last 4 years. I did a scan and found the
folloiwng in Temporary Internet Files/Content IE5/WDERPUF/count
[1].jar"

Java.Shinwow.Trojan
Java.Byte.Verify.exploit trojan.

I have EZ antivirus on "delete" but these don't seem to get deleted.

Am I doing something wrong?

Any suggestions is appreciated.

I'm guessing that EZ might treat JAR files the same way av generally
treat archive compressed files (such as ZIP files) ... and will not
delete such files based on the principle that there may be legit files
also in the archive.

You should be able to delete the file. Actually, on my Win ME PC, I
have a line in my autoexec.bat as:

deltree /y c:\windows\tempor~1\content.ie5

which deletes the content.ie5 folder, all files in it, and all files
and folders "under" it. IE then subsequently rejuvinates it in a clean
condition.

On a side note, I hope you don't routinely have your av set to delete.
You have to consider the false positive or false alert possibilties.
You could wind up deleting perfectly legit files.

Thanks for the comments.

I deleted the file that contained these virus' or at least triggered
EZ-antivirus to give virus warnings.

I don't have an autoexec.bat file

I don't have an autoexec.bat file

IE|Tools|Internet Options|General|Temporary Internet Files|
Delete Files|Delete All Offline Content| check the box, Delete
all offline content, OK your way out. TIF files will be gone.
Standard practice for me each time I close IE. They could have
made it easier as with Firefox, a button right on the taskbar.
I only use IE for MS updates or when 'necessary.

As Art mentioned, auto-delete is not a good policy.
