C0000221 Unkown Hard Error

Ok, I am trying to install windows server 2003 on a clean IDE Hard drive. I have extracted the ISO file to a cd-rom, I run smartdrv and execute winnt from the i386 folder. Windows starts to copy files and gets to the point where it re-boots to st
rt the installation. The system is scanned for devices and then I get the blue screen that says

STOP: c0000221 unknown hard erro
\SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dl

I tried copying the ntdll.dll file to the system32 directory(that I had to create as windows had not yet created it) but that did not work. Any suggestions? Please help.
