C:\Recyclers, what's this?

Stro

A Norton Anti-Virus 2004 scan of my C: drive yesterday
indicated an adware file (Dc1.exe, classifed by Symantec
as Download.Adware) was found at location C:/Recyclers/S-1-
5-21-1069572688-3670186237-2541864206-1003/Dc1.exe.

What kind of path name is this? C:/Recyclers isn't on my
PC (running Win XP Home Ed). Also, the Search function
with Search of Hidden Files/Folder enabled cannot find the
file Dc1.exe.

Anyone have experience with these issues?

I appreciation your advice.

Stro

Sadie,
Thanks for the information & website address.
Please clarify what happens when I turn off System Restore
then reboot. Will this simply wipe clean all data that
was in System Restore, including the Dc1.exe adware file?
Or will I need to run Norton Anti-Virus scan again after
reboot and keep pursueing Dc1.exe?
Thanks for your help.

the recycler folder is nothing to do with system restore
its the per user recycle bin for ntfs volumes
just empty you trash bins and dc1.exe will go away

Ceedee,
Thanks for the correction. Where is the Recycle Bin in
Windows XP? It was so easy to find in Windows Explorer in
Windows98. I've been unsuccessful in finding it in
Windows XP. I've been manually emptying the Recycle Bin
by right clicking on the Norton Protected Recycle Bin
listing in Search Files/Folders function, but I'd really
like to see what's in the Recycle Bin before I empty it.
Thanks,
Stro
