C changed to I

How can a hard drive get changed from C to I?? Main questions is how to
change it back to C, as very little works on it now.
C shows up as Removeable and I as the Root. Computer boots but that is about
all.

If this is a recent event then you can use System Restore to put Windows
back to the condition before the drive letters changed.
