C:/1386

I have a Dell Dimension 4600, and there is a folder named C:/1386. This
folder contains many duplicate files that are duplicated elsewhere,
especially in Windows/System. What is this directory, and is it neccesary, or
just something dell uses. Most of the files haven't been modified since I got
my computer. I have run a duplicate file finder and many search results are
in 1386. Can I safely delete the whole thing? Are these files (.dll etc.
being used even though they have twins elsewhere?

It is the C:\I386 folder.

Leave it alone.

Dell probably did not provide you with a real XP CD. System File Checker
and Windows File Protection probably uses this folder to replace screwed up
Windows System files.

Unless you really have a C:/1386 folder.

The "i386" folder contains all the XP files - takes the place of the CD - as
mention previous post - XP can be reinstalled from this folder.
