bypassing user log on

hi am having a problem with my lap top it has Windows XP
the kids were using it and when i turned it back on it say
enter user name and password the problem is nobody (the
kids} know the password or how it even got on there can
any one help in bypassing or deleting this from the
welcome window

Logon as administrator in safe mode.
Then go to control panel/user accounts
and select "change the way users logon"
