How can I set up my WindowsXP Home Edition so that it will skip the login
screen, and go straight to the desktop, other than by using tweakui.

I was told once by a network administrator that if I used that feature in
tweakui, then I could render my hard drive inaccessible to recover data in
the event of a harddrive crash.

Thanks in advance,

Start | Run, type "control userpasswords2" Select the account you want to
logon to automatically. Then uncheck the box "Users must enter a user name
and password to use this computer."

A poorly-informed network adminstrator. That's not at all true. TweakUI just
does the above for you.

Control Panel > Users Accounts > Change the way Users log on and off....

Your network administrator was either lying, joking, or woefully
ignorant of Windows operating systems.
