Busy NIC on networked XP workstation using DSL

K

10 computers (all identical, all xp) on a switched
network. Internet connection through DSL.

everything operates perfectly, until I connect one of the
computers to the switch. DSL connection for all 9 other
computers slow significantly, and the network card
activity/traffic indicator LED on 10th computer stays busy
continuously (fast LED flashing) just a few seconds after
it has been plugged in to the network. Immediately after
disconnecting the 10th computer from the network, DSL
traffic resumes operating correctly. Task manager on the
problematic computer shows no special programs running,
Virus Scan shows that the computer is clean. Network
cable tested OK. The problematic computer does run other
network applications without problems, and it communicates
with a file server (domain server) as well as with shared
folders on other computers with no problems.

Is there any way to tell which services/programs on an XP
computer is generating network traffic? Any suggestions
on what to try?
