Businesses Having Second Thoughts about Vista

G

Guest

Was in PC world yesterday and noticed that most of the new PCs were turned
off. The few that were running were displaying scrolling ads instead of
Vista. There were no customers in that section, and no sales staff either. Is
that because they aren't selling any, I wonder?

Another point to ponder is that the supposedly healthy Vista sales figures
almost certainly include OEM copies, but of course no-one knows for certain
how many of these OEM disks get formatted the moment the PC comes out the
box. It's possible the actual usage figures are lower. Much lower.

That's what, sooner or later, you will get if you keep running Windows.

So your computer running xp is constantly infected?
Is that correct?

It's also possible that the usage stats are higher because of the Chinese.

Now if you read the article, you will notice that the company, PatchLink
provides solutions to companies who want NETWORK security solutions.
PatchLink polled 250 of them. Now, in the network world where Linux has a
higher presence of users than in the home market, the number THINKING of
migrating to Linux is about 8%, or maybe 20 companies. Not surprising for
businesses.

Yes, I know that the subject of this thread was geared towards Business, but
most users here are HOME users. It is natural that business explore the
possibility of migration to a non Windows solution. Whoppte-do.

If the home user has issues with Vista being slow, crashing, not running
their software, fixes will be coming, or they can migrate back to XP. But
they certainly don't want Ubuntu or Linux. Bad choice for most. Reason
being is they want something that they can work with right away. Ubuntu has
a steep learning curve that most don't want to deal with. Bottom line,
Ubuntu is for Geeks who have lots of time on their hands and want to tiker
with toys.

Just another posting by the Ubuntu Marketing Department (Alias) to try and
scare the visitors the the windows.vista.general group to think about
Ubuntu.

Why would they want a TOY OS to play with when they can use Vista or even XP
to get real work done?

Of course not. I only use it for gaming. When I use the Internet, I
don't use Windows, you moron!

A tehc friend of mine has been installing Ubuntu on HOME computers, one
a day, for the last month. He can't keep up!

Yeah, in the form of paying more for hardware.

LOL! MS is the KING of FUD and you are one of the fanboys that laps it
right up.

Ubuntu is not a Toy OS, of course!

Just wondering, what makes it a 'toy' OS...it will only run on a Speak 'n
Spell or a Tickle-Me-Elmo ?

Advanced video editing hasn't really arrived to Linux, nor has gaming.
For everything else, emailing, Internet surfing, faxing, printing, etc.,
Ubuntu is great.

So your Windows XP computer is not constantly infected with malware and
viruses like you're constantly preaching about?
If that's correct then that proves you are a liar...just as I've been
saying all along.
We have never, ever been infected by malware or viruses while being on
line constantly while using only Windows applications for well over a
decade.

The constant lies and FUD you chose to spread in this ng point to the
fact that you have much larger issues than simply some brand of software.
Of course you'll deny it but that's apart of the sickness isn't it?
We are all now very much aware of your sickness as you try to infect us
with it numerous times on a daily basis.

We all know you need it!

Not what I said. Read it again, this time with your reading glasses on.

The people who do admit that they get viruses are paying attention. Live
with it.

I make a lot of money with the "toy".
But we all know that don't we?
Frank

The only people who "know" that are fanboys like you who are too stoopid
to be able to install Ubuntu and who bluster all over the place, lying
and insulting anyone logical and reasonable like a deranged orangutan.

So you have proved my point. A TOY Operating System just for geeks. I have
heard that with the OpenSores software you can even write words down,
numbers down and even draw primative pictures. NO advanced video editing,
no real gaming. But you can surf, print, and check email. Boy, my old
Windows 98/ME pile can do those things.

When you go out to your prospective Ubuntu clients, make sure you tell them
about what you confessed to us here. Maybe the Marketing Division of Ubuntu
should rethink its strategy.

Try to find a new computer that will run Win 9x. Also, those toy OSs had
to be rebooted constantly due to resource loss. Defragging was a real
joy too.

I do tell them and those few who do video editing are encouraged to do a
dual boot with XP until the video editing programmers get with the new
OS that will wipe Windows right off the map.

Any new computer will run Windows 9x. You may not want to put it on a new
computer, but it will run. Reboot - OK so what. Defrag? Yes it's a pain
but less of a pain than Ubuntu.
I do tell them and those few who do video editing are encouraged to do a

Who wants to dual boot to use a TOY OS? Get real. People don't want to
dual boot just to pay with Ubuntu - Get real.

Yes, it runs on both those platforms and I think someone put it in a
Barbie also.

So what you are saying is you have no reasons for that other than seemingly
than Frank calls it a toy OS.
