I'm having trouble burning data CDs. Everytime I try to burn it refuses to
recognise an unformatted disk. I've used the microsoft send to command and
nero v 5.5 and neither work. I've looked at the registry as suggested
elsewhere and all is fine. On the proerties box the recording tab works.

I've checked the properties boxes and it tells me the equipment is working
properly and the drivers are the best available.

It has worked intermittently, such as yesterday it allowed one burn but none
others. I can only wonder if something in SP2 is causing the problem as it
worked perfectly before. Before I go so far as uninstalling it, does anybody
have an idea?

Check on the Nero site for an upgrade needed for SP2 compatibility.

Go to My Computer, right click on the drive containing the CDRW and select
INCD format. This enables you to use the CDRW as a giant floppy disk.

This may be a result of Auto play settings being turned right off, so
that nothing is checking the drive. MSoft staff have written an
unofficial Auto play fix program - available at
Http://www.bigblackglasses.com/staff/downloads/autofix.exe
- give it a try
