Burner compatibility

Is a 52x24x52 LG CD-RW drive compatible with Easy CD Creator 5? I don't
want to use other programs like Nero. I THINK the model is crwlgs8520bb,
but I'm not sure. Does anybody have an one of these drives with Easy CD
Creator 5 to know if it works or not? Thanks... (I'm thinking about
purchasing this drive if it is compatible) I don't have the money to buy
Easy CD and DVD Creator 6 or Easy Media Creator 7, or whatever it is called.
I am 15 years old, so I am not made out of money. My 32x Lite On drive
caused me nothing but headaches.

you have to straighten out your priorities in life...at age 15, a burner
should not be anywhere near the top...
ou should really talk to your parents regarding this entire situation....or
better yer, seek professional help....the soone the better..

PS...keep the Lite On...better unit..

Nick go away.
I don't have a difinitive answer for you but I can't imagine why it wouldn't
be. As far as Nero goes I use that and it does everything burning software
could possibly be wanted to do plus the demo is fully functional and good
for 3 months before you have to register it and obtain a serial number.

When I am a computer person, and I need my data backed up, a burner is up
there in priorities. I have two hard drives, but I still should back up my
data on a regular basis. I do build computers by the way, so don't think
that I'm computer illiterate. I don't want to keep the Lite On because it
doesn't work 50% of the time. This old 8x Iomega even works better than the
Lite On. (As many attempts as it takes to get the Lite On to burn once, it
takes longer to burn one CD with the Lite On than it does with the Iomega)
Another computer person told me that he has never owned a Lite On that will
last past a year. I like the looks of the Lite On, but if it causes
problems a lot, I don't want it. Back to the priorities thing, I'm on
spring break and have no homework, so I don't have much of anything else to
worry about.
System specs. (not bad for a year and a half to two years old) I've done
some upgrading since I've had it.
Aspire Turbocase with a 400w PSU (X-Dreamer II)
Asus A7V333 motherboard (without raid) BIOS version 1017
WD 80GB 7200RPM 2MB cache HD (C)
WD 120GB 7200RPM 8MB cache HD (D)
Lite On 16x DVD drive

AMD Athlon XP 2400+ CPU overclocked to 2.2GHz (running very stable)
Kingston PC-3000 512MB module. (Yes, there is such a thing as PC-3000)
Nvidia GeForce3 Ti200 128MB with TV out (Brand is actually Chaintech)
Creative Live! 5.1 Sound Card
Linksys 10/100 network card
Panasonic 3 1/2" floppy drive

Logitech Z-560 400W 4.1 speakers

Nero doesn't have a jewel case creator, does it? I've used Nero before, and
I didn't think it did. I like Easy CD Creator's jewel case creator, but I
didn't think you could do that much with Microsoft Plus!'s jewel case
creator, but then again, I haven't used it much either. Thanks.

W

wojo

Yeah NERO 6 does have a jewel case creator.
I haven't used MS + case creator either so can't speak to that.

Don

Well, now you've behaved just like a 15 year old showing off his toy, what
has any of this to do with WinXP OS?

lol
Most of us act like 15 year olds showing off our new toys when we build new
toys c'mon Don :)
I'm 35 years old and still like to show off my computers.

Thank you, wojo. As my Mom says, "Boys and their toys." :) Don, first of
all, I use XP. Second of all, tell me a newsgroup for CD RW drives.

D

Don

Yea, ok then, I've been building pc's since the days of the 386 so perhaps
I've lost the urge to pose. But it is still the wrong group, hardware
problems should go to something like the group below, where you may get a
better response.

Microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware

PS, my Lite On CD rom AND my Lite On CDRW have both lasted over 2.5 years
with no problems using Nero.

Good Luck
Don

I started with 8088's and I still pose :)
But your right it is the wrong NG I hae to agree with him there Travis,
although you did get SOME of your answers you'll likely get better ones
about your specific drive in the NG Don posted.

I know, but until Don mentioned that newsgroup, I didn't even know that one
existed, but then again, there are lots of NG's.

W

wojo

nah only a few thousand

Plenty of CDRW groups there. Incidentally, have you tried a CD lens cleaner
on the Lite-On drive? I have found them to be quite dependable, though you
may simply have gotten a flakey one.

Is flakey a technical term I am unaware of? :)
