I would like to burn a program off that is installed on an
older computer that I have and install it on the new one.
Can't find the cd, so I thought I could probably burn it
off?
im almost positive that's not possible due to the fact
that the install file contains instructions on what files
to place where (i.e. program directory, windows folder)
and also what registry keys and associations to implant in
the registry

Can't do that. Programs are "Installed", not just copied, placing many
references in Windows' database (the Registry), and files into system
folders that are not easily ID'd.
