Burn install disc with Joliet or level 1?

I have Vista 5728 to burn to iso and my dvd burning program asks me to choose
among Joliet, iso level 1, and iso level 2. What is the best or correct one?
Thanks.

It would be nice if you posted what burning software you are using. If it is
Nero, go to Recorder and select burn image.

Sounds like you're creating a data DVD by just burning the ISO file itself
to the DVD. Don't do that!! You're burning program should have some sort
of disc copying function, wherein you'd select to copy a DVD from an ISO
image file. If you're using the disc copy function, you should generally
not see an option to change formats, as the disc copy should pre-select the
format of the original disc ( in this case the original disc is an image
file.)

I have been trying for three days to create a Vista DVD from the ISO file. I
am using the latest Nero (updated Monday). I select create an image and it
just copies the iso file to the DVD. Then I select iso image as the type and
it tells me that it can only create a 2GB file. I am pullin what little hair
out. I have burnt many iso images but can't seem to get this to work.

You don't want to CREATE an image (that would be creating an ISO file,
which is not what you want to do), and you do not want to burn the .ISO
file to the DVD, which would simply give you a DVD with the .ISO file on
it. Rather, you want to burn [restore] a DVD FROM an image. Use the
disc copy function, but specify the .ISO image as the source. All other
questions as to format (e.g. the title of your post) then become
irrelevant, since the image (the .ISO file that you downloaded from
Microsoft) implicitly specifies EVERYTHING.

In Nero Burning ROM, use the Burn Image function under Recorder on the
toolbar. As was mentioned, you don't need to specify any settings. If the
New Compilation window opens asking for settings, just close it and go to
the tool bar.

I have been trying the Nero Burn Image and all I get is a copy of the ISO
file. I then tried the Nero Imageviewer and it said the image was bad. I
guess I have two bad downloaded files. Thanks for your response.

I'm sorry, I just don't think you are using the right utility. Open Nero
Smart Start--go to Backup and choose Burn Image to Disk. A file selection
window opens and you can select your .iso file. DON'T choose DVD or CD here
because it will revert to a Data DVD or CD and you will have to choose image
project and reselect the file. It should show as a DVD in the next window
prior to burn. After you do that, open the left flyout and choose a slow
burning speed of 2 or 2.4 or maybe 4 to burn the DVD. Faster burns will
usually result in bad burns.

You can do the same thing by using Nero Burning ROM, the selection for Disk
Image is just in a different place. I have never used Nero Express to burn
an image. but I would assume it is the same as the Burning ROM utility.

If you check the MD5 and it agrees with the one on the download site, you
have a good image. If the image was bad it would still burn an image and
not just copy the file.
