I am curious if the installer was fixed to delete/replace any old copies of
the gcuncompress.dll file in the /system32 folder that has caused so many
issues?

Yes, read Steves blog !

After install and start you will probably
be notified that a new version is available.

But MS is distributing this now so it can take some time.

Hmmm I downloaded it but haven't tried the install yet. Perhaps they didn't
change the build number. Guess I'm better check to see if it is indeed the
new version I downloaded. Will compare executable versions.

Verified. Still the .614 build. Some posters on BBR have reported getting
the 615 version though.

Installed with no problems. Ditto for defs 5735.
Pertinent files have current date and time.
(I originally posted this under "install" newsgroup
instead of continuing this thread. Sorry about that.
Ran a scan...no problems. Looks good.

D

DKI

I got 615 30 mins after the announcment. some people did have the problem
before with the old link or the old file cached in IE. that could be why
some are getting 614.

N

Norm

I downloaded what is supposedly 615 (size 6,816,904) and ran the install.
The result shows 614 in Help-About. I also tried Update which indicated I
had latest.

Is anyone else having problems getting 615? Is it a server update problem?

Hi

- First remove all temporarily junk, easiest with CCleaner
www.ccleaner.com

- Then download a fresh copy, save it, NOT run it from download
location. After download run setup.

The server IS sending out the wrong version. They do have
the problem at MS end. I have checked several times, the
download is still wrong.

Try emptying your Temporary Internet Files: the stale version might be in
your browser cache.

I managed to download and install the 615 version over 614 last night
without emptying cache etc. This implies to me that the server was sending
out the old version until that time.

All is well now :)>)
