Bug In Windows Mail Since SP1

Hi,

We have Vista business 64 bits release.
I install Sp1 three week ago .

My network is a private one. No internet access , No outside access at all.
We have a windows server 2003 who act as the DNS,AD,News,Pop3 and Stmp .

We are using Windows Mail who come with Vista in replacement of Outlook
express.

If I receive a mail or a news containing some hyperlink
looking like :

file://remotemachine/distribution/.../pdfvalidation.txt
file://remotemachine/distribution/.../pdfvalidation.pdf
file://remotemachine/distribution/.../pdfvalidation.htm

or even like

file://c:/test.txt

If I click on the hyperlink nothing append, no error messge , no nothing.

But if the hyperlink is like :

file://remotemachine/distribution/.../pdfvalidation.html

It works.

So , before installing SP1 all 4 type or file works.

After installing SP1 only the .html type works

Also, if I copy and paste any of the 4 above in internet explorer , the
file open.

I have this beavior only since I install SP1 , before that , all 4 link was
ok.

How can I eliminate this bug ?

We have 60 system in the network with Windows XP 32 bits, Windows Xp 64
bits, Vista 32 bits and Vista 64 Bits.
All those system receive mail with hyperlink, only the new installed SP1
cause problem.

thanks

I'm afraid these ideas may not help, but they come to mind in that they
remind me of similar issues I've experienced with Vista. (I have not yet
installed SP1
due to a driver issue but I am fully updated according to Windows Update):

1) You are using networking to a remote computer. Perhaps it's a security
issue. As you probably know, MS makes you jump through numerous hoops to do
something that was easy in Win98. Even so it may now be impossible. You
might try posting to the newsgroup for Networking.

2) I recently posted an observation about another way of sending links in
email that turn out to be invalid in Windows Mail. To find it search for
"quirk" in the Subject field.
