bug affecting right click

I have a unique problem i have not been able to solve
with windows XP. When I right click on items, it takes a
good 15 seconds before the menu opens up.

This happens in a number of situations. From the start
menu, if i right click on a program to delete it from the
main menu, the hour glass comes up and i have to wait for
15 seconds before the file menu comes up so i can choose
delete.

When in windows explorer, if i right click on a file to
delete it or to see the properties, once I right click
the hour glass comes up and it takes 15 seconds before
the menu pops up.

Likewise, when in windows explorer, if i click on FILE
from the menu, I also experience a 15 second delay.

Any suggestions on how to remedy the problem?

Do you have some program that adds extra functionality to "right click"
(like, TortoiseCVS, PGP, WinRAR, Hex Workshop, VirtualCD, etc)? The more of
them you have, the slower it will be to get the menu. You can try to remove
all those "right click" programs one and one and see if it makes any
difference in speed.
