right-click delay

Thanks to anyone who might be able to help me.

When I right-click an item on my Desktop, in Explorer, on the Start button,
etc, the hour-glass appears and it takes about 15 seconds for the
right-click menu to appear. I first noticed this when trying to delete
files by right-clicking and choosing 'delete.' I have now also noticed that
if I highlight a file and hit 'delete' on the keyboard, it also has the same
delay before asking if I want to send the item to the recycle bin.

Any ideas or solutions?

Thanks,
Breeze

if you have norton can cause this and usually the next
update or so will fix this.

Initially, disabling transition effects solved the right-click problem for
me. Then it came back. I also had symptom of Zone Alarm warning that windows
explorer was attempting to contact internet. Further searching found the
following advice, which worked for me:

Folder Options | View tab -- uncheck "Automatically Search for Network
Folders and
Printers"
