Bought a new pc recently and getting lots of BSOD on startup (before it gets
to the windows login), if it gets as far as the windows login it sometimes
reports svchost errors.
It's got up-to-date anti-virus software on it, done a full scan and found
nothing, done various online virus scans and found nothing, run various
spyware scans and found nothing.
It's got all the latest windows updates installed. I've run diagnostics
(pc-check) on the memory and other hardware and that's passed ok, the hard
drive passes the manufacturer's diagnotics.
I've re-installed windows from scratch, after formatting the hard disk,
still getting the same problem.
When the svchost error occurs, the pc has no network connection, even though
mapped drive letters appear, so I'm wondering if there's a connection with
the network card (drivers maybe).
These are some of the errors that appear in the application event log...
Faulting application , version 0.0.0.0, faulting module unknown, version
0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.
Faulting application svchost.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module unknown,
version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000.
Fault bucket 07918338.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Andy
