Hi all

I am using WINDOWS XP professional with IE7.
my computer was working fine unil I turned it on today and got a BSOD with
some message similar to (ATAPI.sys =address F747880A BASE at F7472000
datestamp 41107b4d) and it ask me to disable antivirus etc and do CHKDSK /F

So i rebooted computer and login and got message (Windows cannot load your
profile because it may be corrupted. contact your ststem admn) After that it
went to another message (Windows will load temorary profile)

I tried rebooting several times with same result. then finally i decided to
run chkdsk which ran at start up. It completed the 3-stages and came to
something about security discriptor when it just suddenly rebooted and I am
again confronted with the temorary profile. I will not get anywhere because
the profile is not even safed when I reboot. I need my original profile
because there is a lot at stake here. Somebody please help me.

Regards

If the profile is corrupted there is no way to fix it. Create a new profile
and copy the data from the corrupted one to the new.

Do you have a full and complete backup of important data? You should never
run chkdsk unless you have such a backup. Chkdsk has been known to cause
file corruption problems from time to time, and there is no way to know what
it did or to reverse it.

One other thought, did you try a system restore to before the problem
appeared?

I'm sorry but hijacking someone else's thread will not get you help. The
reason you are having difficulties in posting is that you are using the
awful web interface to these newsgroups. Instead, set up a newsreader
which is very easy to do. See information about that below. After you
get your newsreader set up, post to the correct newsgroup for IE7:

microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general

There are a huge number of posts so it would be smart to start by going
to Google Groups Advanced Search. Use a search term that describes your
problem, constrain the search to the IE7 newsgroup and the date to very
recently. You can also check MVP Sandi Hardmeier's canonical IE7 site.
Sandi has workarounds, known issues, troubleshooting, and links. This
may be the only site you need.

Since you are using the web interface, you may not realize that this is
really a newsgroup. You will get far more out of this resource if you
learn to use a newsreader. There are many good newsreaders for Windows,
but you can use Outlook Express since you already have it. Here are
some links to information about newsgroups:
