When I open a window and click a link the window opens to
the right of browser, so that half of the new window can
be seen. how do i stop it from doing that? any help
would be greatly appreciated

Reset Internet Explorer Window Placement - fix:
http://www.mvps.org/sramesh2k/reg/IEPlacement.reg

Download the REG file, close all browser windows and double-click it. It just resets the Windows_Placement value in the registry.
