BROWSER WON'T GO TO MICROSOFT

When I try to go to microsoft.com with my other computer,
it comes back with server not available. (Windows update
works) I've reset the internet options to match this
machine, but it still doesn't work. Are there any other
options I could change or maybe its the way I'm trying to
log in to the server. This is the only site I can't seem
to get into.

Check for a file named HOSTS with no extension (not Hosts.sam). It may be a
hidden file. Open it with Notepad and remove any line referencing the site.
Or, rename HOSTS to OLDHOSTS
 
What error message to you get?

It may be a HOSTS file problem.
Look also for a file named HOSTS (no extension, could be hidden) rename it
OLDHOSTS.

If you have this file and did not create it then it may have been the work
of some web accelerator program or some parasites.

You likely picked up the Qhosts virus. More information about it is here:

thanks for the reply, I'll check into this along with the possible virus
 
changed HOSTS to OLDHOSTS and I got though, thanks all for your help.
