browser settings?

I've recently removed some spyware from my computer, but
during the process I've changed some of my browser
settings (security settings and advanced settings) and
now I can't view sites like royalbank.com, or other
similar secure log-in sites. I've clicked the restore to
defaults button on the advanced tab and restored the
defaults under the security tab, but I still get the "The
page cannot be displayed" page when I try to go to these
sites.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Try adding royalbank.com to your Trusted Sites.Tools, Internet Options,
Security.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've tried this too, and
still, it won't work.
