browser problem

until recently, when i was entered a url in the address
bar all i had to type was www.whatever.com. Now no matter
what i type it takes me to www.yahoo.com. However, if i
put in http://www.whatever.com it takes me to that page.
I would like to be able to use the address bar without
typing http:// everytime i wanted to change websites. Any
suggestions?
