Browser problem

Hi there, when i'm trying to access some web pages like my
university webpage and few others my browser transfers me
to weird search engine page. Now i'm usig McAfee internet
security, AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy. None of
these programs find problem. I dont know what to do.

Hi, Mike -

You didn't provide a lot of particulars here but I can
say that the best adware/spyware database I know of is
the one PestPatrol maintains - and most entries come with
removal instructions.

It is possible that a program/virus has made changes to your hosts file.
Try this:

1) Using Windows Explorer, look for a file named "hosts".
2) For each hosts file that you find, double-click the file.
3) Look thru the hosts files for the name of the site that you are trying to
reach. If it is there try removing that entry and saving the hosts file.
This may be where you are getting re-directed. This is a popular way for
search engines to increase their hits.

Please note, if you are going to modify your hosts file it is a good idea to
back it up first
