Browser Not Remembering Password

I'm having a problem with IE6 on Win2k; the browser will not remember
the login/password for the kp.org website.

I've verified that the 'Tools->Internet
Options->Content->Autocomplete' menu has both "User names and
passwords on forms" and "Prompt me to save passwords" checkboxes
checked.

The "Protected Storage" system service is running, and I verified
(using Mozilla) that there is no javascript on the kp.org website that
would prevent the browser from remembering the password.

Can someone suggest how to get IE6 to (1) prompt to remember the
password and (2) (automatically?) fill in the login form when visiting
the login page? The URL is provided for reference below, if someone
could independently verify the problem:

Also, I checked the 'Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs->Change Or
Remove Programs' menu; there is no option to remove/repair Internet
Explorer 6. The 'Add/Remove Windows Components' menu offers a way to
remove IE6, but not repair. Removing and re-adding the program also
does not solve the problem.

I'm really at a loss... I have this same problem at www.upromise.com
and www.paypal.com - the Paypal site error may be cookie related, but
the upromise site most definitely is not (I've verified this using
Mozilla Firebird.)

Using the repair tool did not fix the problem at Upromise.com, and I
am unable to login at www.kp.org (site down), www.netflix.com (login
leads to a blank page), and www.fax1.com (login leads to a blank
page).

This, to me, is reprehensible. I cannot understand how one browser
(IE) can be so fickle about functioning when another (Firefox) has no
problems whatsoever. Both browsers are installed on the same machine,
on the same account, and utilize the same TCP/IP protocols. At the
moment I'm on the phone with my ISP; if they cannot offer a suggestion
as to why these sites load slow slowly (if at all) I will be unable to
recommend use of Internet Explorer in the future. This is major
problem, since any website I may design could have a large number of
IE users.

After re-installing 128-bit encryption, I'm now able to logon to
Fidelity.com with IE6.

Unfortunately, IE still will not offer to remember my password for
kp.org and Upromise.com - if this problem is javascript related, are
there any known work-arounds?
