Autocomplete - Remember Password Problem in IE6 (WinXP)

Can anyone tell me why IE6's autocomplete - remember password doesn't work
when another textbox (like a search input) is added to the form that contains
the username and password textboxes? If I remove the search input, the
remember password functionality works fine. Is there a work-around for this
issue?

Thanks for the link but this is not a problem with protected storage; if I
remove the extra textbox, autocomplete works properly.
