Browser Hijacker

P

psilos

I am using my PC with two different sessions (administrator
and a limited account). It seems that the software is not
fully covering the two different profiles, as I cannot get
rid of this cool websearch bar (the one with poker, casino
etc.) What is more surprising, is that, when I run MS ASW,
it detects the browser hijacker, and when I decide to
delete it, the software works, but ignores the instruction.
And at the first use, it seems that the hijacker was
stronge nough to modify the definitions of the advanced
tool (definition of the search bar). So the only solution
was to deinstall MS ASW, to reinstall, to reconfigure the
advanced tools. But still, I cannot get rid of this f...
search tool bar, and I still get sometimes these small
icons like poker, or casion on the desk. What can I do?

Mate you are suffering the same fate as millions of others,
stick browser hijacking into Google and learn. Get yourself
a copy of hijackthis.exe and wade your way through the reg
and the c drive and remove the little bugger! its not
impossible just a pain. then up your security setting on IE
or as i prefer to recommend switch your web browser!!
Cheers Good luck.

Try the trick of running AntiSpy twice in a row from Safe
Mode (start tapping F8 during a boot right after the PC
Maker's screen shows up until it tells you Safe Mode then
select the first option). If that doesn't help then:

Get CWShredder (free standalone version) from:

http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract/cwshredder_download.ht
ml

If that doesn't help then:

Get HijackThis from

http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/hjt199//HijackThis.exe

and let it Scan your system and Save Log. (Save it where
you can find it again.) then send me the log. I will tell
you what to do next.

Use "ADD/REMOVE A WINDOWS COMPONENT" to temporarily remove
Internet Explorer, then initiate a full system scan using
the BETA1, instruct BETA1 to remove any detected threats,
after removal of the threats, add IE back to Windows. IE
should run normal.

Try coming up in safe mode and then running both your
virus software as well as MSAS. Often it is not possible
to remove software that is already running.
