browser hijacker

I have a browser hijacker in my system and after i run ms
antispyware and remove it it keeps reappearing. it changes
the ie homepage from google to aboutblank and a stupid
nameless search engine appears without any address in the
bar. can anyone help?

I also get the same problem. Spyware Nuker reports is as
a CWS and Cool Web Serarch spyware but I cannot get rid
of it. Can anyone help.

cws shreader will remove coolwebsearch and variants of it.
there is a direct link in another post in this forum, I
can't find it at the moment, but its what you need.

followup...

cws shreader may or may not catch new versions, it seems
the author gave up trying since the newest versions hit,
it seems MS just makes it too easy to get infected with
this little jem so even those trying to help have gotten
disgusted and have walked away.

CWShredder has been taken over by another company. The
latest update for it was the 15th of January I believe. I
just got hit with the CWS and a bunch of it's variants
last night. I downloaded it, updated it and ran it and it
got rid of CWS easily.

Intermute bought it. I downloaded the latest version, and it didn't work
on the CWS variant I have. I suspect that InterMute isn't doing much
with it.

Try the trick of running AntiSpy twice in a row from Safe
Mode (start tapping F8 during a boot right after the PC
Maker's screen shows up until it tells you Safe Mode then
select the first option). If that doesn't help then:

Get CWShredder (free standalone version) from:

If that doesn't help then:

Get HijackThis from

http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/hjt199//HijackThis.exe

and let it Scan your system and Save Log. (Save it where
you can find it again.) then send me the log. I will tell
you what to do next.
